LINDA'S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA

Huntington Beach, California

Huntington Beach, California Huntington Beach, California, known as Surf City USA to the locals, is a "must-do" vacation for me every year. I have made it a four-day getaway, combining it with a Mexican Riviera cruise and a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I like to stay at the Hyatt Huntington beach. This beautiful hotel, not even four years old, is located across the Pacific Coast Highway with ocean views and an easy walk across the pedestrian bridge that links the hotel with the beach. The hotel has a great pool with underwater speakers, a spa grotto with several hot tubs and fire pits to roast marshmallows in the evening.

Huntington Beach, California A few short blocks away is Main Street with many surf shops, bikini boutiques and restaurants with outdoor patio seating lining both sides of the street. On weekends, classic cars cruise down the street. I felt like I was on the set of Happy Days and that The Fonz would be showing up soon! The surfing championships are a lot of fun to watch and I have not been in Huntington beach when there was not one going on. The original Rubies is at the end of the pier. You will never have a better milkshake than what they whip up there! If you go around 4:00pm in the late afternoon and are lucky enough to get a window seat with views of the ocean, you will more than likely see the schools of dolphins frolicking in the sun as it is starting to set over the water! Duke Restaurant on the beach is nice for dinner, serving fresh seafood prepared many different ways.

Huntington Beach, California Huntington beach is located in the middle of all the action in southern California. To the north you have Disneyland about 30 minutes away. Another 30 minutes gets you to Beverly Hills and the Hollywood area. In Hollywood, you have Universal Studios and the Chinese Mann Theatre. To the south, the next beach town is Newport Beach- about 15 minutes away. Laguna Beach is 25 minutes away and San Diego is about 90 minutes away. San Diego is home to Sea World and the San Diego Zoo, just to name a few. Dinner in Old Town San Diego to taste the many different Mexican food dishes is a nice way to end another day in the O.C.

When you have some time, take a trip to Huntington Beach-even if it is for a quick weekend getaway! You will find plenty of flight options to get you there quickly; and with so much to see and do, you will enjoy the beautiful views and the casual elegance that the O.C. has to offer you! You will find that one trip will not be enough!
